5K Run/WalkSunday, November 6, 2016 . It is a short 5K walk and takes less than 2 hours total. (This is not the Susan G. Komen 3-day walk!)
Did you know that here in San Diego County, 2 out of 5 women can't afford - or don't have the insurance to get - a potentially life-saving mammogram? And we know that when breast cancer is found in its earliest stages, there is a 98% survival rate. I want to do something to help those women and their families.
Susan G. Komen for the Cure provides uninsured women and their families with everything from free diagnostic mammograms and surgeries to financial support like meals, mortgage payments, child care, prosthetics and wigs. In fact, 75 cents on every dollar raised stays right here to help local women. The remaining 25 cents funds international research. Next to the U.S. government, Susan G. Komen for the Cure is the largest funder of breast cancer research in the world.
