General Race Information
Q. When is the Race?
A. The Race will be held on November 1, 2020. The Race start time will be at 9:00 A.M.
Q. How much is the registration fee?
A. There is no fee to register for the virtual fundraising event this year or to access the online fundraising tools.
Q. I already paid the registration fee before the Race went virtual. Where does my money go?
A. Any registration fees made prior to this transition will now count towards the participant's personal or team fundraising goal. You will get a Race number, a Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® t-shirt, and a great feeling!
Q. How can I register?
A. You can register online by clicking here. You can also register offline by downloading this form and mailing to the address below: Komen San Diego Race for the Cure, 1782 La Costa Meadows Drive #102. San Marcos, CA 92078.
Q. How will I receive my Race packet including t-shirt?
A. All registered survivors/thrivers and those who fundraise over $100 will receive a FREE commemorative Race for the Cure t-shirt. T-shirts will be available at a drive-thru packet pickup event the week prior to Race. Shipping of Race packets to those who cannot attend packet pickup will also be available for a small mailing fee.
Q. How can I become a volunteer?
A. We may be having a virtual event, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t need your help. Find a volunteer opportunity that’s right for you. There are many ways you can get involved, for more information, click here.
Q. Does the Komen Race for the Cure® require fundraising?
A. It’s not mandatory, but it is strongly encouraged. Your Race registration gets us to the start line—it’s fundraising that helps us win the Race. Your fundraising dollars help save lives.
Q. Does the money raised benefit people in our community?
A. Funds raised help support Komen’s work to save lives through breakthrough research, advocacy and to support patients, including through Komen’s Breast Care Helpline, Clinical Trial Information Helpline, Treatment Assistance Program and other direct patient support services.
Q. Where do I send donations?
A. Send donations with a completed form to: Komen San Diego Race for the Cure, 1782 La Costa Meadows Drive #102. San Marcos, CA 92078. The form can be found here. For donations on behalf of an individual participant or a team, please include that information with your check.
Q. Is there a deadline for fundraising?
A. All donations on your behalf that are received by December 1, 2020 will be credited to your fundraising total.
Q. What are some ways I can fundraise for my team/my individual goal?
A. We have plenty of ideas here!
Q. How do I form a team?
A. To be considered an official team, you will need 2 or more registered members by the morning of the Race. We recommend 10-15 team members to help you reach your fundraising goals.
Q. What are the benefits of a team?
A. Forming or joining a team multiplies the fun you will have on Race day. You can create a team to celebrate a survivor or honor someone you have lost. You can also create a corporate team and get your entire company involved. To learn more, click here.
Q. Do teams have to fundraise?
A. Teams are not required to fundraise but we strongly encourage fundraising. Fundraising as a team helps pay for breast cancer patients' most critical needs during treatment!
Q. One of my team members registered as an individual when they meant to join my team. How do they correct this?
A. Please email email@example.com to get this corrected.
Q. Can donations made to a team be split or shared among team members?
A. We are unable to split or transfer donations between individual and team accounts.
